Following a 3 year position as producer and staff composer at Razorhead Music in New York City, Brooklyn-based musician Patrick Krouchian began freelancing under the moniker Telegraf in 2006. Early that year, while working on musical sketches for their spring tv campaign, Telegraf caught the attention of DSW Shoes, by juxtaposing an ecclectic mix of breaks and textures against a soft Schubert piano line. The highly percussive motif became the signature theme for all 3 spots in the "Legs" series. The resulting DSW experience established a solid relationship between Telegraf and Moondog Edit. along with their audio division, Sound Foundation. Patrick has since composed for clients Victoria's Secret, Timex, Dodge, JC Penney, Dickie's Apparel, Remy Martin, The Limited, Brut, Calvin Klein and Neutrogena, This year sees Patrick writing for the little screen, along with long-time friend and collaborator Josh Sitron. The duo is currently composing the underscore for the new animated series "Allen Gregory", created by actor/comedian Jonah Hill, premiering Oct. 30th on FOX. ___________________________________________ Originally from Montreal, Patrick also produces other artists and writes his own original music. Dark brooding textures combined with gritty rhythms and quirky synths, with a subtle pop sensibility. One of his tracks, Pink and Gold, was rather well received with UK- based Computer Music Magazine... This is the weirdest but also, in our opinion, best track we've featured from the Listening Lounge. Krou specializes in abstract electronica with a heavy surreal twist, and this piece would sit perfectly in a David Lynch movie. If you appreciate unnatural soundscapes then be sure to have a listen - it sounds truly exceptional. Things come in and out of focus and momentarily have you think you know what's going on, only to then disappear off into the mist again. At the end, when the drugs wear off, things become a bit more recognizable and you can almost make out a tune, albeit a bit of a blurry one. Go check this one out! -Tim Oliver; Computer Music Magazine
